    Shipments of aluminium products in U.S. and Canada drop YOY in July 2016

    According to the estimate of The Aluminum Association, shipments of aluminium products in U.S. and Canada drop YOY and YTD in July 2016.

    During July 2016, shipments of can stock by domestic producers totalled 350.3 million pounds, a drop of 1.3 per cent over the July 2015 total of 354.9 million pounds. Sequentially, shipments dropped 4.2 per cent from the June 2016 revised total of 365.8 million pounds. YTD shipments through July 2016 were 2,456.4 million pounds which recorded a rise of 1.0 per cent over the same period of 2015. What is to be noted here is that while producer shipments of can stock to U.S. markets decreased 4.7 per cent to 295.1 million pounds in comparison to July 2015, exports recorded a rise of 22.0 per cent to 55.1 million pounds.





    U.S. and Canadian producers shipped an estimated 679.8 million pounds of aluminium sheet and plate during July 2016, a drop of 4.6 per cent from the July 2015 total of 712.7 million pounds. Shipments were down 6.8 per cent from the June 2016 revised total of 729.1 million pounds. YTD shipments through July 2016 totalled 4,903.3 million pounds slightly up from the same period of the previous year.

    U.S. and Canadian producers shipped an estimated 84.4 million pounds of aluminium foil during July 2016, a drop of 3.1 per cent from the July 2015 total of 87.2 million pounds. Shipments were down 1.8 per cent from the June 2016 total of 86.0 million pounds. YTD shipments through July 2016 totalled 574.0 million pounds, slightly down from the same period of previous year.





    U.S. and Canadian producers shipped an estimated 28.3 million pounds of aluminium forgings and impacts during July 2016 slightly down YOY. Compared to the previous month, shipments recorded a slight drop. YTD shipments through July 2016 totalled 189.4 million pounds which recorded a drop of 5.8 per cent from the 2015 YTD total of 201.2 million pounds.

    Estimated shipments of aluminium drawing stock, bare wire and rod & bar by U.S. and Canadian producers totalled 93.8 million pounds during July 2016. It records a drop in YOY and YTD estimate as well as from June 2016 total.
