Quintiq, a Dassault Systèmes company and global leader in supply chain planning and optimization (SCP&O), announced today that its planning and optimization software platform has been selected by Ma'aden Aluminium to facilitate a business planning transformation programme.
Ma'aden Aluminium wanted to switch from volume-driven to demand-driven production planning. To achieve its targets, it needed a planning software platform that could integrate internal planning processes, improve information flow and support optimal decision-making.
Ma'aden Aluminium chose Quintiq for its scalability and optimization capabilities as well as successful track record in the industry. Quintiq will optimize the aluminium producer's internal processes and guide its employees on industry best practices and strategies. It will provide Ma'aden Aluminium with greater visibility over its supply chain, identify and reduce bottlenecks in production, and develop expertise in pull-through production. The platform's scenario planning capabilities will enable Ma'aden Aluminium's planners to handle disruptions effectively while its KPI dashboards ensure that they see the impact of their planning decisions on business goals.
Victor Allis, Chief Puzzle Solver at Quintiq, worked closely with the Ma'aden Aluminium team to develop the Quintiq platform for the aluminium producer's transformation program. He said, "We believe that a holistic approach is key to a successful supply chain planning and optimization program. We are very proud that a major aluminium company like Ma'aden chose Quintiq for this project. This partnership further cements our presence in the Gulf Cooperation Council's metals market."
"We selected Quintiq because it's a leading expert in supply chain planning and optimization with a proven track record in the aluminium industry. Quintiq proved, in a one-week go-live challenge, that they understood our challenges and could build a planning solution for us in a very short time," said Tom Walpole, Senior Vice President of the Aluminum Strategic Business Unit at Ma'aden Aluminium.
Ma'aden Aluminium, part of the Ma'aden group in Saudi Arabia, operates one of the largest and most efficient vertically-integrated aluminium production complexes in the world. The complex represents a SAR40-billion (USD10.8-billion) investment made in partnership with Alcoa.
