Manufacturer Whitehall Industries of Ludington has been acquired by a Japanese aluminium supplier.

According to a statement, SRS Industries LLC, which does business as Whitehall Industries, was acquired in May by UACJ Corp., a Tokyo-based aluminium manufacturer.

Whitehall Industries is a vertically integrated supplier of extruded and fabricated aluminium components and assemblies for the automotive industry. The company makes a range of products, including structural components, sunroof guides, convertible top components, and running boards, among others. Its customers include U.S., Japanese and European OEMs, as well as Tier 1 and Tier 2 suppliers in the U.S. and Mexico.

The existing management team remained with the company as part of the deal. Birmingham, Mich.-based Quarton International served as exclusive financial adviser to SRS Industries on the deal.

Whitehall Industries operates two plants in Ludington and a plant in Paducah, Ky. The company also runs a processing facility in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. Overall, Whitehall Industries employs 800 people, about 500 of whom are based in Michigan.

“In selecting UACJ, we are partnering with a well-capitalized, multi-national corporation that shares our values and has the resources to further accelerate Whitehall’s growth,” said Whitehall owner and CEO Yogen Rahangdale.

According to a statement from UACJ, Whitehall Industries had net sales of $117.3 million for the 2015 calendar year.
