Compared with aluminium great powers in the world, China is still lagging behind in terms of resource relocation, industry convergence, technique level, product competitiveness and technique innovation, etc.

Significant structural confliction. Mainly exposed as unscientific industrial structure, single and short product chain; deficient alumina production capability, sudden expansion of electrolytic aluminium production capability; weak in aluminium product downstream processing, low added value, lack of cooperating companies of electrolytic aluminium-aluminium processing; high-tech aluminium processing products are mainly imported; low convergence, unscientific distribution of industry, low ability in venture resistant, etc.

Deficient in raw material and energy sources. Alumyte resource in the country is in shortage, and 90 pct is sedimentary deposits distributed in Shanxi, Henan, Guizhou and Guangxi mainly.

Secondary aluminium companies are “small, excessive and dispersed” with low technique level. Besides, added scot is unfavorable to the upgrading and development of this industry.
