Charlie Straface, currently the general manager of the Industrial Region of Sapa Extrusion Americas, has been appointed as the new business area president effective immediately.
Over the last several years, Sapa has strengthened its safety, operations and productivity. Straface will now take the company into the next phase of its development.
Straface joined Sapa in 2008 through the Alcoa joint venture and brings valuable experience and competence from the industry. During many years within Alcoa’s rolling, tubing and extrusion businesses, he held roles of increasing responsibility, ranging from quality and technology manager, to operational and general management roles, including VP of Quality and Technology and General Manager for Distribution. In Sapa, Straface became General Manager for Industrial products serving the commercial transportation and automotive markets in addition to general industrial markets. From 2011 to 2015, he also took on responsibility as the Vice President National Sales Distribution.
”I am very pleased that Charlie will take over this important role and join our corporate management team. His quality management and broad industry experience, coupled with his demonstrated results in his current role, will bring valuable experience to the team and makes him the right leader for Extrusion Americas going forward,” says Sapa's President & CEO Egil Hogna.
Straface will succeed Patrick Lawlor, who is leaving Sapa to pursue new opportunities. Lawlor has been heading the extrusion operations in North America since 2010 and in the Americas since 2013. He joined Sapa with the acquisition of the Indalex assets in 2009.
”Under Patrick’s leadership, we have seen tremendous top-line growth and great progress in safety and productivity. Thanks to his inspirational leadership, we also have a very motivated work force,” says Hogna. “I would like to thank Patrick for his contribution and dedication during his time in Sapa and wish him all the best in his future career.”
