Kobe Aluminum Automotive Products LLC of Bowling Green will invest $57 million by constructing a more than 116,000-square-foot addition at its existing facility, buying new equipment and adding 112 jobs.

The plant will eventually employ 483 people, increasing its current workforce from the current 371 full-time employees.

"Kobe Aluminum Automotive Products has enjoyed great success since locating in the commonwealth," Gov. Steve Beshear said in a news release Thursday.

KAAP is owned by Kobe Steel Ltd. and Mitsui & Co., both of Japan. KAAP began production in Bowling Green in 2005 and has previously invested $236 million in five previous expansions. It is a manufacturer of aluminum forging suspension for the automotive industry.

The company anticipates growing its business in coming years, and the expansion will support those changes. Construction will begin in December and is expected to be finished by October 2016.
