The Chhattisgarh Mineral Development Corporation (CMDC) has started looking for contractors for mining and marketing of bauxite deposit at Village Narmadapur village at Mainpat in Surguja district of Chhattisgarh.

Notably, CMDC had been sanctioned mining lease for mineral bauxite in village Narmadapur, area 47.812 hectares. The environment clearance for modified mining plan for the lease has been obtained and land acquisition for private land of the lease area is complete, officials stated. CMDC will allow the contractor to operate the mine for mining and marketing of bauxite as per the bid conditions under the prevailing mining laws, officials stated.

The mineral concession will be in the name of CMDC throughout the life of mine. The selected contractor will be responsible for execution of the following activities at his own cost, such as mining and marketing of bauxite --deployment of mining machineries and blasting, employment of qualified persons, maintenance of records as per requirement, renewal of air/water consent and approval of mining scheme preparation as and when required.

The mining will be strictly as per approved mining plan and quantity to be mined under the limit fixed in environment clearance order that is maximum of 4.00 lakh metric tonnes per annum, officials stated.

The CMDC has completed exploration and preparation of geological report for Aridongri and Kabirdham iron ore projects, officials stated.

Significantly, in the month of May this year, Chief Minister Raman Singh had stated that minerals extracted in Chhattisgarh should be used for units located in the State on a priority basis. This will boost revenue collections and also increase job opportunities while addressing the 9th meeting of Chhattisgarh Mineral Development Fund Advisory Committee.

The meeting was organised by State Mineral Resources Department in which the Chief Minister was informed about various projects underway to explore minerals in the State.

The Chief Minister had stressed over undertaking of mineral prospecting work by Chhattisgarh Mineral Development Corporation (CMDC) in the meeting. Officials informed that in the current fiscal, Bauxite exploration work are currently being undertaken in Pandariya Tehsil of Kabirdham and Murtunda of Surguja district.

Likewise, Bauxite prospecting is going on in Bamhtara village of Bodla Tehsil of Kabirdham district. The Bauxite exploration work will be undertaken in Bhursipakri and Mukam of the same Tehsil. Both the projects were sanctioned during the meeting. It was also informed that for effective management of minerals a web-based e-governance application ‘Chhattisgarh Integrated Mines and Mineral Management System’ is being developed. This application will be used for receiving requests for various relaxations on minerals and timely disposal of applications.
