AMAG: Asia- an attractive market for high quality aluminium products

AMAG, a leading producer of high grade rolled aluminium products based in Austria, offer customers in Asia a wide range of specialty materials for aircraft, automotive and electronics. AMAG has over 70 years’ experience in the production of aluminium with special competence in high-strength sheet and plate.

Thanks to our customers and business partners, 2014 was a record year in Asia, driven by sales of specialty aluminium coil, sheet and plate for demanding processes and applications.”

In 2014 AMAG successfully commissioned new hot rolling and plate facilities to increase annual production by 50 percent to 225,000 metric tons. The hot rolled product portfolio was expanded to a maximum width of 2,300mm and a maximum plate thickness of 152mm. In 2017 AMAG will commission a new cold rolling mill and coil heat treatment line.

For AMAG, Asia is an attractive market for high quality aluminium materials. Asia has become a player in the global aerospace supply chain and is developing a range of civil aircrafts. Demand for aircraft aluminium plate and sheet is growing rapidly, particularly in Korea, Japan and China.

Since 2005 production of passenger cars has doubled in the region. This trend will continue. Asia is pre-eminent in the manufacture of consumer electronics equipment, components and products. We anticipate the growing importance of high strength aluminium products, which deliver function and form.
