According to China’s National Development & Reform Commission in its July analysis report on foreign trade, while discussing about other issues like relatively rapid increase of trade surplus with EU and continued expansion of deficit with Japan export surge of some high energy consuming, highly polluting and resource-intensive products need attention.

The report show that, China's import of steel billet and crude forgings declined while imported price of iron ore, concentrate and coal set a high growth.

The steel product export volume remains huge despite a slowed growth rate. From January to July cumulative steel product export came to 34.15 million tonnes down by 14% YoY and the monthly figure exceeded 4 million tonnes except in February. July registered a new high of 7.21 million tonnes up by 38.1% from Jun or 21.3% from the same period of last year.
