Sapa Extrusion France is investing EUR 2 million in casthouse and fabrication equipment at its extrusion plant in Puget-sur-Argens. At the same time, the plant will adjust production capacity to improve its efficiency in a competitive French market.

“The new investment will help Sapa strengthen its position in the French market and add value for customers,” says Gilles Le Bouquin, general manager of Sapa’s extrusion operations in France.

In addition to the new investment, the French operation is streamlining its management and reorganizing its sales force, to provide better customer service throughout the country.

However, in order to be able to meet the market needs in an effective manner, an additional reorganization of operations will be needed. “We have examined all available options, but unfortunately the employment of 40 employees could be impacted at the Puget plant,” says Le Bouquin.

As a result, local management has initiated the procedure for informing and consulting the employees.

“We are aware of the potential impact this announcement will have on the affected employees and we wish to engage constructively with our employees and union representatives throughout this process,” he says. “Serving our customers in France remains our top priority, and the planned investments in Puget demonstrate our unchanged commitment to the French market.”

Sapa operates four extrusion plants in France. These are located in Albi, Châteauroux, Lucé and Puget.
