    124,000 tons of surplus aluminum in the global market

    LONDON, April 18 -- The World Metal Statistics (WBMS) announced Wednesday that from January to February this year, there are  124,000 tons of surplus aluminum in the global market
      The demand of primary aluminum was less than 5.8 million tons.
       The output was 5.94 million tons, an increase of 631,000 tons.
      General Aluminum inventories rose again in February, as at the end of February to 2.89 million tons. Consumption statistics in the report did not consider the inventory change. The overall output of aluminum increased by 11.9%, compared with Jan and Feb last year.
       WBMS said that the in January-February period, China's output increased by 548,000 tons, accounting for about 32% of the world's total output. The amount of non-forged aluminum net exports from China is 60,900 tons, representing a 5% decline in the first two months of last year.


      WBMS said that the global demand for the same period increased by about 9% to 5.82 million tons. Sustained strong demand in the EU results in an increase of more than 4.4%. In February, the output of primary aluminum was 2.891 million tons, while the consumption was 288.6 million tons.
