Trimet Aluminium SE is 30 years old. Founded in 1985 by Heinz-Peter Schlüter as a metal trading company, in three decades the company has become a material specialist for the aluminium processing industry. With the takeover of the aluminium smelter in Essen and the recycling plant in Gelsenkirchen, the company entered the aluminium production arena in the 1990s. Today, Trimet operates four aluminium smelters, two recycling plants and several foundries at eight locations in Germany and France. The company produces around 700,000 tonnes of aluminium products annually.

In addition to trade in metal, Trimet produces primary aluminium, manufactures cast parts for automobile manufacturing and other industries, and reprocesses the lightweight metal. Today, just as then, a consistent customer focus, innovative strength and committed employees are decisive for success.

"Since its founding, Trimet has consistently maintained an absolute focus on the customer," said Dr. Martin Iffert, Chairman of the Executive Board of Trimet Aluminium SE. "As supplier of materials for the high quality products of our customers, their success is our yardstick." The success of Trimet is a testament to the strength of the domestic value-added chain. "Together with their suppliers the machine construction, electrical and automotive industries represent the innovative engine of Europe as a location for industry. We are proud to be able to do our share as a flexible partner of our customers," said Iffert.

With eight production plants in Germany and France, the family-operated company asserts itself on the international stage, especially with customer-specific materials and processes. A close proximity to customers is something Trimet takes literally, since a large proportion of its products are delivered to regional customers and processed further.

The potential of the modern lightweight metal, particularly in the area of automobile manufacturing and the energy sector, is far from exhausted, explains Iffert. That is why the medium size company is investing in the expansion and modernisation of the production facilities, and in the basic and further training of its 2,700 employees. Trimet has often been distinguished for the quality of the training and the successful integration of new employees into the company.
