Malaysian companies record RM75m sales at Indonesia’s auto exhibition

Malaysian companies generated sales worth RM75.20 million from their participation at the recent Indonesia International Auto Parts, Accesories and Equip Exhibition 2015 (INAPA).
Among the products of interest were automotive suspension system, anti-vibration system, lubricants, engine mountings, rubber bushings, compressors, aluminium die casting products and sealants.
“INAPA served as a good market assessment platform for Malaysian companies in promoting their auto parts and components to Indonesia,” Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) quoted the companies as saying.
It also enabled them to understand the local market demand and buying behaviours, the national trade promotion agency, which organised the participation of 11 Malaysian companies to INAPA said in a statement.
This is the fouth consecutive year of MATRADE organising the participation.
The Indonesian automotive industry is still the major market in Asean with car sales in Indonesia expected to grow between five and 10 per cent.
INAPA is the largest automotive parts and accesories trade fair in Indonesia. Its latest edition featured 11 country pavilions, namely China, Korea, Taiwan, India, Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore, Australia, Japan and Turkey.There were more than 1,100 companies from 35 countries.
In 2014, exports of transport equipment were valued at RM10.58 million.
The major export of transport equipments and automotive products to Indonesia were motor vehicles of 1000cc-1500cc as well as parts including steering wheels, steering columns and steering boxes.
Indonesia was Malaysia’s seventh largest trading partner and ninth export destination in 2014 with total bilateral trade valued at RM59.48 million and exports RM31.76 billion.
