China Inner Mongolia Starts Producing Alumina from Coal Ash

Inner Mongolia Mengxi High-Tech Group started trials on its 200,000-tpy alumina project in Inner Mongolia on October 25, local media reported yesterday.

The project, with total investment at 2.5 billion yuan ($ 410 million), will source coal ash, a waste of byproduct of thermal power generation as raw material, it added.

The company is planning to extend its value chain to capitalize on rich coal resources there.
