Bermco Aluminum has invested $5 million on upgrades at its Messer Airport Highway facility.
The Birmingham-based company, a manufacturer of secondary aluminum alloys, said the upgrades include two 220,000-pound furnaces, including one that began operating earlier in 2014.
Bermco's project also included another 220,000 furnace, as well as a new pollution control system that handles the operation of both reverberatory furnaces and the rotary furnace simultaneously.
The final piece of the puzzle was the addition of two new casting and cooling lines that have been installed, along with a new robotic ingot stacker.
The company did not disclose if any jobs would be added in connection with the investment.
Bermco Aluminum was founded in Birmingham in 1921.
