(China Aluminum Network) The analyst Helen Lau from UOB Kay Hian said Chinalco will put off aluminum development project in Xinjiang owing to the high alumina transport cost.
UOB Kay Hian stated low fuel cost is not the advantage for smelters in Xinjiang any more, which was offset by the alumina transport high cost.
UOB Kay Hian cited the data from Chinalco that aluminum capacity has jumped to 5000 thousand tons in Xijjiang in 2013 which was outclass 500 thousand tons in 2011.
Lau said, with the power support from local government, Chinalco has reopened the high cost aluminum smelters in Guizhou, Shanxi, Guangxi and Liaoning and reached balance of payments.
