CHINALCO profits 7 bln RMB in H1

CHINALCO (Aluminum Corp. of China), China's biggest producer of alumina and primary aluminum, generated over 70 billion yuan of revenue and profited 7 billion yuan in the first half of 2008, announced the company Wednesday. 

The company didn't note whether the figures were pretax or aftertax. CHINALCO said its output of alumina, primary aluminum and copper increased 0.5 percent, 1.6 percent and 7.8 percent, respectively, in January-June.

The assets of the company exceeded 370 billion yuan by the end of June.

CHINALCO, the parent company of Chalco (601600.SH; 2600.HK; ACH. NYSE), has newly changed its corporate strategy to transform itself into an international polymetallic mineral company.
