China’s aluminum semis exports fell 6.90% to 270,000 tons in May from a year ago due to falling exports of plate/sheet, strip and flake, Shanghai Metals Market learned.
The exports in May, virtually unchanged on a monthly basis, registered a 17.15% year-on-year drop of exports in aluminum plate/sheet, strip and flake, the major reason behind the total decline, SMM understood.
China Customs showed China’s exports of aluminum plate/sheet, strip and flake fell to 129,400 tons in May due mainly to waning demand and no price advantages. World’s demand has shifted to high-end aluminum plate/sheet and strip, reducing demand for low-end products.
Outbound shipments of extrusion, foil and pipe/tube remained on an upward track in May, though.
