The Union Government on Monday gave its green signal to the proposed mega Aluminum Park in the Angul district of Odisha, sources said.
A committee under the chairmanship of Amitabh Kanta, Secretary, Industrial policy and promotion department under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India has given its nod to set up the mega park in the district, the sources added.
It may be noted here that, Odisha Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation [IDCO] in a joint venture with NALCO had sought Centre’s permission earlier to set up the Aluminum park in the district, which could not materialize so far, due to lackadaisical attitude of certain officials.
The project- to be set up on 450 acres of land at Tulasipal and Languliabeda villages in Angul district – involves an outlay of around Rs 125 crore, out of which Rs 44.62 crore will be funded by the Centre.
About 50 industrial houses will set up their units in the proposed park, which aims to earn Rs 2,500 crore revenue with an initial investment of about Rs 500 crore. It will also generate direct employment for 4,500 and indirect employment for 10,000 people in the area, sources said.
NALCO will supply the necessary raw materials for the project.
