Hindalco Industries, based in Madhya Pradesh/India, has placed an order with Hertwich Engineering for a continuous homogenizing and sawing plant for extrusion billet. With the continuous homogenizing plant, perfectly uniform metallurgical properties of all billets are achieved due to precise and reproducible temperature regime during heating, holding and cooling. The new continuous homogenizing plant is part of a production expansion being undertaken at its Mahan site.

The continuous homogenizing plant has an annual capacity of 64,000 tonnes of aluminium. Billet diameters range between 178 and 229 millimetres.

The plant is to be delivered in July 2014 and subsequently erected. Production is scheduled to start in February 2015.
