Chinalco posts first-half sales of 70b yuan

Aluminum Corp of China, parent of China's largest producer of the metal, posted first-half sales of 70.4 billion yuan (HK$80.45 billion).

The state-owned metals producer had a profit of 7 billion yuan during the period, without giving a comparison or saying whether profit was before or after tax.

Alumina output gained 0.5 percent and aluminum production increased by 1.6 percent. The company is the parent of Chalco (2600), or Aluminum Corp. of China, the Hong Kong and Shanghai-listed arm. Chalco is scheduled to report first-half earnings on August 30.
