(China Aluminum Network) It is expected that China Xinjiang’s primary aluminum smelting capacity may up 50% and reach 4500 thousand tons/year, the figure was 3000 thousand tons/year at the end of 2013.

The industrial professionals said domestic aluminum price was continued low which resulted cut down or shut down in aluminum smelters in South China, expected to reduce capacity 900 thousand tons per year.

Xinjiang region’s aluminum smelting capacity can keep stable growth as low production cost in this region especially the power price, the power price in Xinjiang was 0.2-0.3 Yuan/KWH, and other regions was 0.4-0.6 Yuan/KWH. The total production of eight aluminum smelters in Xinjiang (including seven existing companies) occupied more than 90% of the total production in this region.
