Doha: The Aluminium Downstream Investment Opportunities Conference starts on Tuesday under the patronage of the Minister of Energy and Industry H E Dr Mohamed bin Saleh Al Sada.
Qatari company Azem Project Development is bringing together top experts from across the globe to share know-how and experiences in the aluminium downstream industry, the company said in a statement on Thursday.
The forum will be an opportunity to obtain a full investment opportunity profile for each project and interact with regional and international technology providers, investors, entrepreneurs, banks and financial institutions and businessmen.
Unveiling rising opportunities for aluminium downstream industries in Qatar, Azem Project Development, in partnership with Frost & Sullivan, is organising the conference at Intercontinental Hotel Doha.
The accompanying exhibition will showcase latest innovations and techniques in the aluminium downstream industry. Increasing aluminium smelter capacities will drive the growth of downstream industries in the GCC and an in-depth session on the subject will be held by Frost & Sullivan.
The conference will present investment opportunities related to aluminium downstream with high returns to the private sector.
GCC aluminium production is estimated at about 3.5 million tonnes, which represents about 7 percent of the gobal output.
Aluminium downstream industries in Qatar have become important to meet demand from local and international markets. With high quality and competitive products, the industry will contribute significantly to achieving industrial diversification in Qatar.
Total investments in aluminium downstream projects are about QR1.2bn, with production capacity close to 260,000 tonnes per year of products.
Total demand for products is more than 2.8m tonnes in the Middle East and North Africa region.
