The total sale of CVG-Bauxilum alumina in Venezuela was 75,820 mt in the month of April, a rise by 133% on the sale of 32,605 mt in April 2013, said the company on Monday.

The sales in April were rose by 18%, on the total sales of 64,126 mt in the month of March 2014.

In April, the domestic sales totaled 24,971 mt, and export sales were 50,849 mt to Noble-Roble and Glencore International AG. "It was about 25,000 mt to both of them," noted a Bauxilum official.

The official also added Bauxilum continues to show a ray of hope on raising the total production as well as sales on a particular portion of resources from $5 billion China-Venezuela Fund that they are expecting to avail before 2014 second quarter’s end. The allotment of Bauxilum has yet to be made public.

Bauxilum's Pijiguaos mine’s total bauxite sales was 1,602 mt in April, a rise by 107% on the total sales of 773 mt in 2013 April.

The bauxite sales in April were up by 164% on the sales of 606 mt in 2014 March.

"The higher bauxite sales were because we also sold to Cementos de Venezuela, in addition to our regular client [downstream aluminum company] Ferralca," the official said.
