North American Aluminum new mill orders rose 0.32% in April ‘14

The statistics released by the Aluminum Association indicates that the new mill orders for the month of April 2014 have increased marginally by 0.32% over the previous month.
The year-to-date new mill orders index is down 1.16%.
New orders for plates were down in April when compared with March this year. The April plate orders plunged 14.17% from March. There was 13.02% decline in April plate orders year-on-year.
The sheet orders during the month of April ‘14 inched lower by 3.93% from March 2014. Also, there was 2.28% fall in April sheet orders year-on-year.
New orders for extruded products, foils, domestic can and export can stock were up in April when compared with the previous month.
The orders of extruded products jumped 5.78% in April ‘14 when compared with the previous month. Also, extruded products orders were up by 4.24% when compared with April 2013 orders.
April orders of foil surged 8.63% compared with the previous month and were up 9.15% from a year earlier.
The April ‘14 orders of domestic can stock were up by 1.41% from previous month. However, the orders during April were down by 3% over the previous year.
Also, the orders of export can stock surged 5.72% month-on-month in April ’14. The export can stock orders were 11.42% higher on year-on-year basis.
