After analyzing and evaluating the most appropriate measures for adjustment to the market situation, Sapa has decided to start a restructuring process with the intention of closing its aluminium extrusion plant in Fossanova, Italy.

On May 5, Sapa communicated to local authorities and union representatives its intention to close the plant, and the company has started the consultation process according to the procedures required by law.

Sapa is fully aware of the social impact of its decision and is committed to identifying the best possible solutions for the affected employees in close cooperation with the unions.

About 140 people are employed at the plant, which serves both aluminium building systems and general extrusion customers.

Augusto Caporrella, who is responsible for Operational Excellence in Sapa Building Systems, says “we will do everything we can to maintain the service level that Fossanova’s customers have grown to expect, while showing our full commitment to the Italian market.”

The Fossanova plant is organized within Sapa’s Building Systems business area.
