ZOEY Ware and her young family have returned from the red dust of the Northern Territory.
While Gladstone isn't a huge place, it is certainly a city in comparison to Gove in the north-eastern corner of Arnhem Land.
With the announcement of the alumina refinery shutting down in the latter months of last year, Zoey's family of four decided to relocate back to their home town.
"Home will always be Gladstone," she said. "It took a lot to leave in the first place. We have all of our family and friends here."
Ms Ware, her partner of ten years Brenden Slatter and their two children Bailey, 6 and Aliyah, 9 are resettling into a faster pace of life.
"There were no traffic lights or roundabouts in Gove," she laughed. "And certainly a lot less people."
The couple are pursuing new career opportunities in town and are glad to be back.
With the kids enrolled at Benaraby State School, the couple plans to set down roots nearby. "When new adventures call you just have to take them," Zoey said.
