(China Aluminium Network) From 2011 to 2013 the growth of China primary aluminium demand was fast, the improvement of resident income and consumption level stimulate the growth of aluminium fabrication industry and the demand of primary aluminium. In 2011, the demand of primary aluminium was 19,245 thousand tons, the figure jumped to 24,468 thousand tons in 2013. The annual growth rate was about 10% in 2011-2013.
China aluminium industry operation showed four characteristics. The first one is declined in alumina import and increased in bauxite import. The second one is slow down in electrolytic aluminium output and steady growth of consumption. The third one is fast growth of processed products and stable export level. The last one is industry upgrade of secondary aluminium.
China is a large aluminium industry country, but not strong. It still remains the issues like over supply, high foreign-trade dependence, low added value of aluminium products, disorderly market competition, unreasonable industrial structure, weak enterprise independent innovation ability, etc.
