The U.S. Association of Women in the Metal Industries (AWMI) has named Sapa’s Carol Chizmar as recipient of its 2013 International Member of the Year Award.
The announcement was made on April 11 at AWMI’s International Board of Directors meeting. Chizmar, who is AWMI’s International Membership Chair and member of the Philadelphia Chapter, will be presented with the award later this year at the 2014 AWMI International Conference.
The Member of the Year award is the highest honor awarded by AWMI. Members are nominated and selected by their peers for exemplifying the Association’s goals of education, mentoring, networking and growth.
Carol Chizmar began her career in the metals industry in 1979 with Cressona Aluminum Company in Pennsylvania. She currently serves as Fabrication New Business Coordinator for Sapa’s North American locations and works on various other projects supporting Sapa’s commercial organization and customer service team.
During her tenure as AWMI’s International Membership Chair, she has implemented a number of new initiatives, including the establishment of the Chapter of the Year Membership Cup. This award in particular has helped create new excitement and activity among the chapters.
“Serving as International Membership Chair has been a very rewarding position for me as I get to work with all of the chapter chairs and the Membership Committee, a truly great group of individuals. AWMI’s membership continues to grow thanks to all their hard work,” says Chizmar.
Association of Women in the Metal Industries (AWMI) is an organization of professionals, founded in California in 1981, to promote and develop the growth of women in the metal industries.
