Average operating rate expected to be stable at Chinese Aluminum Fabricators

According to a survey made by a Shanghai Metals Market, it is expected that the production rate at the aluminum fabricators in China will have a lit bit of change in the month of April.

It is expected that the average operating rate at the Chinese extrusion producers will be 64% in the month of April quite in level with the rate in March. But the rate was down from average rate of 70% last year, a latest survey by SMM revealed.

It is believed, the YOY drop in this rate is due to an inactive property sector. The lending rates for property- related business enterprises have been tightened by banks. This has made the aluminum extrusion traders and producers more cautious while they supply their goods to the property developers. As a result, the low housing market is forcing the construction enterprises and the distributors to scale back their inventories and this in turn is cutting down the demand in the market for aluminum extrusions.

The survey also states that average operating rate for aluminum sheet, plate, foil and strip producers will be 63%, the value quite unchanged from the month of March. Despite the steady sales, there will be many end users who would even scale back the purchase of raw material or ask the processors to shorten the delivery time.
