The aluminum producer Aleris, headquartered in Cleveland, has completed its acquisition of Nichols Aluminum LLC, a producer of aluminum sheet for the transportation, building and construction, machinery and equipment, consumer durables, and electrical industries in North America. In making the deal, Aleris says the acquisition will provide it with greater efficiency and flexibility to serve customers.

Nichols, which uses aluminum scrap grades in its reverberatory furnaces, has two production facilities in Davenport, Iowa; a facility in Decatur, Ala.; and a facility in Lincolnshire, Ill. Nichols says that it has a large recycled-content percentage in its aluminum 3105 and 3004A alloys products.

The deal was first announced on Feb. 10, 2014, and Aleris agreed to pay 110 million in an all-cash transaction.
Aleris’ area of expertise is producing aluminum rolled and extruded products, recycling and specification alloys.
