JW Aluminum increases price of alloys by 5 cents

JW Aluminium, the US sheet maker, has increased the conversion prices for its alloys by 5 cents and it will be effective on the new orders that will be placed on or after 7th April. On Friday, the company said they have done this as they have noticed a continued tightening in the supply of scraps.

The increased consumption of scrap by aluminum producers has led to scrap tightness and this has resulted in increasing premiums as well as freight rates, said the company.

"Due to ongoing trends affecting our raw materials, we're actively evaluating alternate pricing approaches," Chief Commercial Officer Chester Roush said in a statement. "Unfortunately, the Flat Rolled Products Industry as a whole cannot continue to absorb these rising costs."
