Japan Aluminium Alloy Refiners Association announced the outlook for the fiscal year 2014 for demands on secondary aluminium alloy products ingots and secondary aluminium ingots as well as primary aluminium alloy ingots for casting and die casting.

According to this, FY2014 demands on secondary aluminium alloy products ingots and secondary aluminium ingots is 1,631,500 tonnes up by 1.3% from the prior year, which represents a positive growth in 3 consecutive years. For a reference, FY2014 demand on primary aluminium alloy ingots for casting and die casting is 254,800 tonnes up by 1.5% from the prior year.

In this regard, FY 2013 demands on secondary aluminium alloy products ingots and secondary aluminium ingots was anticipated to be 1,609,800 tonnes (up by 4.5% from the prior year). In the automotive industry as a main consumer, the production of a completed car turned upward in the latter half of the fiscal year due to last minute demand stemming from the trend of yen depreciation and the increase in consumption tax and the export of parts for production in the overseas countries increased drastically, which in turn resulted in the demands on casting and die-casting as a main item being up from the prior year.

The outlook for FY2014 demands in the main fields drawn up by the association is as follows. (1).As to secondary aluminium alloy ingots for casting and die casting, although the sharp downturn in the demands on cars in the domestic market and the domestic production of a completed car are anticipated because of the increase in consumption tax, the export of parts is expected to continue to be firm due to the car production in the overseas countries being in good shape. Because of that, the demand is expected to be positive growth.

(2).As to secondary aluminium alloy products ingots and secondary aluminium ingots for rolling process, since the demand on beverage aluminium can is anticipated to be slightly up from the prior year, the demand is expected to be slightly more.

(3).As to secondary aluminium alloy products ingots and secondary aluminium ingots for steel and others, since the domestic crude steel production is anticipated to be down from the prior year, the demand also is anticipated to be down.
