    Review of Aluminum Production and Price in China 2013

    (China Aluminum Network) In last year, the growth of aluminum production in China was slow down, but the market was still oversupplied. At the same time slight recovery of downstream industry was unable to boost the whole aluminum industry, aluminum price was kept down trend in 2013.


    As the raw material of auto, building material and packaging industry, the application fields of aluminum  only second to steel and play an important role in national economy.


    According to the latest data from International Aluminum Institute (IAI), aluminum smelting capacity in China occupied 47% of the total global production in 2013.


    At the beginning of 2013 aluminum price was rebounded slightly, but since April downslide potential of aluminum price was enlarged in domestic and overseas and aluminum smelters have heavier business operation stress. The aluminum companies in Henan, Guangxi, Yunnan and Shanxi have started production cut down successively. Moreover, the running time of newly added capacity was exceeded market expectation. Affected by descended inventory and delayed newly added capacity, the growth of electrolytic aluminum production in China was decreased further. According to State Statistics Bureau, China has produced 22046.1 thousand tons of electrolytic aluminum in 2013, up 9.65% yoy.
