Aluminum Association names Ryan Olsen as VP, Business Information & Statistics

The Aluminum Association announced the appointment of Ryan Olsen as the new Vice President of Business Information & Statistics. This completes the leadership restructuring effort under Association President and CEO Heidi Brock, creating a dynamic organization designed to promote the use of aluminum.

"Ryan brings strong experience to the Aluminum Association's business information and statistics program," said Tim Calvin, Director of Sales and Marketing, Billet & Rod for Noranda Aluminum and Chairman of the Aluminum Association's Statistical and Market Research Committee. "I am looking forward to working with him on the Association's highly valued statistical programs."

As Vice President, Olsen will direct the Association's North American aluminum industry statistical and business information programs, which provide vital market insight. As the principle source for statistics on the North American aluminum industry, the Association publishes a number of reports covering every segment of the market. Olsen will also be responsible for the Association's surveys and data publications, key committee assignments and serve on the Association's senior leadership team.

"Ryan's background in capturing and analyzing complex industry statistical information and communication skills will be beneficial to our members and policy stakeholders," Brock said. "I'm looking forward to working closely with Ryan to increase the aluminum industry's profile - with $152 billion in direct and indirect economic output, and 672,000 direct and indirect jobs, we have a very compelling story."

Prior to joining the Aluminum Association, Olsen served as a Senior Data Analyst and Economist in the Maritime Administration within the Department of Transportation. Olsen lead the Agency's efforts related to identifying, evaluating and reviewing marine transportation market data, as well the production of a broad range of economic and statistical analyses.

Olsen has a B.A. in Economics from St. Mary's College of Maryland and an MBA from Mount St. Mary's University.
