Alumina Import Volume Decreased Over 30%

(China Aluminum Network) According to the data from China Customs last month China imported alumina 144.4 thousand tons, decreased 54.18% y-o-y. The previous 8 months, China has imported alumina 2025.9 thousand tons totally decreased 31.37% y-o-y.

The statistics showed since this year less enterprises use Australian alumina, there were 14 enterprises used this alumina in January, but only 4 in August. At the same time, alumina CIF price also increased.

The growth of domestic alumina production was the main reason that caused decline in imported alumina; also domestic alumina is cheaper than imported alumina. The research showed current port alumina price was from 2540 -2600 Yuan/Ton, while alumina price in Guangxi, Shanxi and Henan only 2260-2480 Yuan/Ton.
