According to Singapore, electric power shortage in China can hardly be eased in spite of the output cut.
20 major smelting factories in China agreed to cut their output to 5 to 10 pct on Thursday. Analysts predict that this saves only less than 1 pct of the country’s electricity.
An analyst of Sydney predicts that the cut can save about 2.4 billion W electricity power, accounting for 1/10 of the country’s electricity consumption in electricity restrained regions in summer.
According to the data of Calyon Securities, energy consumption of the country’s black metal and non-ferrous metal account for 20 pct of the total consumption, while residential consumption for 13 pct.
“Electricity provided to aluminium smelting factories and other high energy density industries is going to be reduced, while that for residential and agricultural use will be increased. We predict that output cut due to electricity shortage in aluminium factories will continue this year.” Said Yingxi Yu, Berkeley capital analyst.
