Vice-chairman of China Non-Ferrous Metals Industry Association Wen Xianjun declared on Friday that production of primary aluminium is predicted to be 14500000T,  6.5% or 1000000T down than previous production.

This is due to the reduction of output in aluminium factories caused by electricity shortage.

According to sources, China has already brought down prediction of output to 1000000T lower. If electricity shortage deteriorates, aluminium output could be even lower.

China is still the largest producer of primary aluminium in the world.
