Weak Aluminum Price Can Not Stop New Capacity

(China Aluminum Network) Global market was of endless panic and despair since weak aluminum price, but the production of China primary aluminum was no manner of stop. The production in May was 1770 thousand tons.

From January to May, China produced 8,730 thousand tons of main metals, increased 8.25% YOY. The production in Xinjiang, Guangxi, Shanxi and Guizhou increased 185%, 40%, 34% and 32.62% respectively in five months.

At the same time, the export volume of China primary aluminum was 45,800 thousand tons (down 11.6%), while the import volume dropped about 70% to 81,000 tons.

The semi-finished products’ output reached 1460 tons increased 23.5% in 5 months, the growth rate was 14.6% in 2012. The growth of export volume of half-finished products was more stable about 6.45% to 1210 thousand tons. Local aluminum demand will up 10% in this year.

China construction industry occupied 35% of the total aluminum consumption volume.
