Combilift Ltd is the Irish manufacturer of a wide range of 4-way forklifts and other  customised handling solutions. Since the company was established in 1998 it has carved out an enviable reputation for developing and supplying innovative and niche equipment and is the acknowledged global leader in the long load handling sector.

With over 18,000 units sold to an extensive customer base in a wide variety of industry sectors around the world, Combilift is now focusing on the Chinese market and is thus exhibiting for the first time at Aluminium China. It has chosen to showcase its award winning Combi-CB model: the unique counterbalance design compact forklift with 4-way capability which is capable of handling long as well as palletised loads and which offers unrivalled manoeuvrability and versatility.

The premise of the Combilift range is that its trucks offer space saving, safe and efficient handling of even the longest and bulkiest loads for speedier operations and greatly enhanced productivity. Working as “three machines in one” the Combilift can replace standard counterbalance trucks, narrow aisle forklifts and sideloaders. This streamlines the fleet and reduces capital outlay on machines, cutting fleet maintenance costs. The ability to work in much reduced aisle widths of just 2m in many cases enables maximum use of available storage space and avoids the need for costly relocation or the acquisition of new warehousing facilities when increased volumes of goods need to be handled.

Hallmarks of Combilift’s products are robust design, very reliable operation, ease of maintenance and the ability to operate both inside and out, on semi-rough terrain and in all weather conditions. The versatile use of the truck enables speedy and streamlined operations such as offloading deliveries, manoeuvring loads from the yard, to the warehouse and into racking, with no time-consuming double handling of goods.

Sideways travel enables long loads to rest on the platform when being transported, avoiding risky high level manoeuvres above other stored product, thus greatly enhancing health and safety practices. Fully synchronised 4-way steering and easy changeover to sideways mode make the Combilifts extremely manoeuvrable and flexible.

The exhibit at Aluminium China  - the Combi-CB - is available with lift capacities ranging from 2.5 to 4t, with AC electric, LP Gas or diesel power options.  It has a lift height of up to 6.5m and its compact dimensions enable it to work insider containers for destuffing and to transport loads directly to storage facilities. This again contributes to greatly enhanced productivity.

The handling requirements of the aluminium industry are typified by the need for  efficient handling of raw materials and finished products of differing weights and sizes. Extruders for example need to be able to transport, store and load very long products at the end of the extrusion process and companies handling logs need generous lifting capacities. Combilift’s range of customised models with lift capacities from 2.5 to 25t, together with an extensive range of attachments means that the  company can offer the ideal solution for these applications.
