China-based P&A International has announced its breakthrough in pre-treatment bonding technology, which could lead to cars being made with more aluminium parts.

The enabler for adhesive bonding of automotive structures has been licensed to a leading supplier of surface treatments to the automotive industry in an exclusive global distribution agreement.

P&A International provides one of the most affordable and innovative services for aluminium extrusions China has to offer international customers. According to the spokesperson, this breakthrough represents a huge extension of the company’s services to its customers in the automotive manufacturing industry worldwide.

“The technology is the new pre-treatment bonding standard for aluminium sheet, extrusion and Aluminium diecasting suppliers across the automotive industry,” said the spokesperson.

According to automotive original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), the use of aluminium in cars is to nearly double by 2025. Today aluminium is already the second most-used material to manufacture cars.

“As OEMs continue to work to make cars more fuel efficient, many are expanding aluminium use from heat exchangers, wheels, drive shafts, engine blocks, hoods and deck lids to developing aluminium intensive vehicles (AIVs) by converting the body in white, or body structure, to aluminium,” the P&A International spokesperson explained.

As OEMs use aluminium body structures to improve fuel efficiency, new joining and assembly methods are required.

“The use of this technology is helping enable greater use of aluminium throughout the industry. It will ultimately drive lighter weight vehicles and enable the integration of sheet, extrusions and castings to ultimately improve fuel efficiency,” said the spokesperson.

“What’s more, it helps us to drive innovation in other fields, which is something our customers across all industries will be able to benefit from in the near future.”

Automotive manufacturing organisations and OEMs looking for a die casting China supplier, are invited to contact P&A International for a fast personalised quote.
