    Domestic Aluminum Can May Oversupply in 2013

    (China Aluminum Network) With the operation of aluminum can production lines in Chinalco Ruimin and AsiaAlum Group, China’s aluminum can supply volume may oversupply in 2013.


    From 2009 to 2011, domestic residents’ consumption ability and consumption habits was increased and changed, market needed more and more aluminum cans, the increasing speed was over 20%. China's economy increasing speed was slowed down this year, which was affected aluminum cans demand, consumption increasing speed was dropped to around 10%. Aluminum cans material consumption volume was about 460 thousand tons this year.


    The increasing of consumption ability stimulated the inland production. Though aluminum cans material consumption was weakened this year and enterprises were failed to finish the designed productive task, this year’s output still recorded new high, about 410 thousand tons.


    China's economy has slowed down, cans material consumption also weakened, but domestic supply shortage situation still drived production expansion and release of new production. SMM expected that aluminum cans material market may oversupply in 2013.
