BEIJING, June 17 - China's first coal ash-to-alumina production line is expected to be put into operation in 2009 in North China's Inner Mongolian Autonomous Region.
The production line will extract alumina from coal ash containing more than 40 percent of alumina.
With an investment of 1.863 billion yuan, the production line is expected to produce 400,000 tons of alumina annually, and consume 1.6 million tons of coal ash.
According to industrial experts, industrialized coal ash-to- alumina production will help ease China's alumium ore shortage, cut coal ash waste and solve environmental pollution problem.
