    Chinalco Nanchuan Project Plans to Expand 50% of Capacity

    (China Aluminum Network) Caijian who is the vice general manager of Chinalco Chongqing Branch said they’ve waited 2 years of this railway, after the opening of this railway, they will expand another 400 thousand tons capacity. Chinalco also will build a branch railway to connect with the Nanfu Railway.


    Chinalco Chongqing Branch’s 800 thousand tons alumina project which was put into operation 2 years ago and Bosai Minerals, all of their goods were rely on highway transportation to get in and out, limited cost and transport efficiency. With the opening of Nanfu Railway, Chinalco also has made sufficient preparations.


    Wu Jiansheng said they can conduct shipment and discharge within the factory, since the branch railway can extend to the interior of factory, for this reason the company also purchased 4 large cranes that can finish shipments and discharge of 50 railway carriages within 1 hour. Trucks need about 20 hours to load and unload the same quantity of goods.


    It is reported that the opening of Nanfu Railway largely enhanced Chinalco Nanchuan project’s shipment and discharge. Thus the project was thinking about 50% capacity expansion, namely expand 400 thousand tons of alumina capacity each year, now was in the state of planning.
