Electrolytic Aluminium Enterprises Were Hard to Turnround This Year

(China Aluminum Network) SMM reported since October last year electrolytic aluminium enterprises were sunk into industry loss, while aluminum price was increased in late August and September this year, electrolytic aluminium enterprises were better than before.

Wang Huajun who is the vice executive secretary of China Nonferrous metals Industry Association (CNIA) stated that loss in electrolytic aluminium industry will improved but unlikely to turnround.

According to SMM, average loss amount for electrolytic aluminium enterprises was reduced about 300 yuan/ton last week, besides the increasing of aluminum price domestic alumina price was continue to drop which has eased cost pressure of electrolytic aluminium. SMM’s quotation showed low end domestic alumina price has dropped 40 yuan/ton to 2,460 yuan/ton. Low end domestic alumina price has dropped 70 yuan/ton totally since August.

Since late August loss range for electrolytic aluminium enterprises was shrinked, at the end of August electrolytic aluminium enterprises lost 350-400 yuan/ton on average, the figure has dropped to 300 yuan/ton in September.

Wang Huajun said electrolytic aluminium industry was unlikely to carry-back of losses.
