Domestic Alumina Price Continue to Drop

(China Aluminum Network) On 13th, September, LME aluminum price maximum increase rate was more than 12%. Domestic aluminum futures stimulate spot aluminum ingot price to over 15,500 yuan/ton.

Spot aluminum ingot price recovery, but raw materail domestic alumina price was no intention to recovery, some regions even oversupply and price continued to drop.

According to the quotation of SMM, low end domestic alumina price was dropped 40 yuan/ton to 2,460 yuan/ton, till 13th, September has dropped 70 yuan/ton totally. It is learned that Shanxi alumina enterprises were provided with bauxtie price advantage, small size alumina enterprises faced with fund pressure, manufacturers chose low-cost delivery to withdrawal of money.

Besides domestic alumina price dropped slightly, Lian Yungang alumina price also dropped 20-30 yuan/ton since last week, trade price was 2,620-2,650 yuan/ton, high alumina inventory leaded to the decreasing of price.

Chinalco alumina price was stay at 2,900 yuan/ton since 31st, May. According to the statistics, from Jun. to Aug. newly added alumina capacity was 4,000 thousand tons, 1800, 1200, 800 and 200 thousand tons for Shanxi, Guizhou, Yunnan and Henan respectively, some regions were oversupply leaded to weak price.
