China Imported 24,470 Thousand tons of Bauxite From Jan. to May

(China Aluminum Network) According to the data from China Customs that China imported bauxite 6,274 thousand tons in May increased 41.2 yoy, from Jan. to May totally imported 24,473 thousand tons increased 42.4% yoy.

According to statistics, China imported 5,564 thousand tons of bauxite from Indonesia in May increased 62.6%, while from Jan. to May totally imported 20,650 thousand tons of bauxite from Indonesia increased 54.73%. Further more, imported 710 thousand tons of bauxite from Australia in May, 3605 thousand tons from Jan. to May totally increased 5.58% yoy.

Bauxite import volume was increased in May mainly affected by up tariff and more export restraints in Indonesia. Thus, domestic traders and alumina manufacturers which mainly use imported bauxite chose replenish stock in advance and increase import volume. Monthly bauxite import volume created new high in May.
