The aluminium price recovered the former neutral to weak price trend at the LME shows that the impact of the earthquake in China over the market has been basically dispelled. Recently, alumina market will maintain relatively stable with 3550-3600 yuan / ton mark. Furthermore, since putting into production at the end of last year, some new alumina plants are basically normal in production. In view of the market share, the quote price is slightly lower than the price above.
As the Sichuan earthquake has a certain impact on the transportation, some alumina plants are unable to deliver goods for customers of Sichuan, Yunnan and the places near. However, aluminum plants in these areas have stocked up products so that the production has not yet been affected.
It is learnt that the import price of alumina is 3600-3900 yuan / ton. Because of price difference between imported and domestic alumina, business on alumina has slacked and stocks have increased significantly.
Although the prices of bauxite at home and abroad are still rising because of the rising freight, on the impact of the stock, it is estimated that prices of alumina still shows a downward trend.
