China Alumina Capacity Will Hit 54,490 Thousand Tons 2012

(China Aluminum Network) Owing to decelerated global economic growth expected that ocean freight was unlikely to rise, while most of alumina importers in China had signed long-term cooperative agreements with mines, so prices were kept stable. But when faced with tight bauxite resource, FOB price of imported bauxite may rise slightly next year. According to survey, built alumina capacity will reaches to 54,490 thousand tons in 2012, newly added capacity 7700 thousand tons, bauxite import volume will still maintained at a high level.
