(China Aluminum Network) Shandong Province imported 119 thousand tons of alumina in January decreased 15.2% yoy while increased 41.2% on a monthly base, this data was the highest record since 12 months. It valued 38,290 thousand dollars dropped 26.6%, average import price was 321.5 dollars per ton that dropped 13.5% yoy and 9.6% on a monthly base, but it was the lowest record since 17 months.
The following main reasons caused the substantial increase. The first one is alumina price different at home and abroad which was more than 150 yuan/ton. The difference in price leads to enterprises perfer importing. The second one is alumina output slow down in domestic and downstream industry output improved quickly that all expand alumina import volume to some extend.
